Do Notion Widgets Work Offline?
No. A widget is a web page loaded from a server at the moment you open the block, so without a connection there is nothing to load and the block stays empty. The rest of the Notion page behaves normally, because your text and databases are cached locally and the embed is not.
What you see
An empty frame where the widget was, and everything else intact. It is the same symptom as a deleted widget, which makes it easy to misdiagnose. If the page looks fine except the embeds, check your connection before checking anything else.
Why it cannot be fixed
This is not something a widget provider can solve. Notion decides what it caches, and it does not cache third party frames. No tool in this category works offline, ours included, and any that claims to is describing a picture rather than a widget.
What to do if you work offline often
Keep anything you need without a connection as native Notion content. A callout instead of an announcement widget, a plain divider instead of a styled one, text instead of a text widget. Reserve widgets for the pages you open online, which for most people is nearly all of them.
If offline access is a hard requirement rather than an occasional inconvenience, that is one of the honest reasons to look at Notion alternatives. Local first apps like Obsidian keep everything on your own disk.
Slow connections
Partial connectivity is worse than none, because the page loads and the widgets hang. If that happens often, fewer embeds is the practical fix. Do widgets slow Notion down has the arithmetic.
One workaround worth knowing for travel: take a screenshot of the page before you lose connection. It is inelegant and it is the only way to keep what a widget was showing when the network goes.
