Can You Put a Widget in a Notion Database?
Partly. Every row in a Notion database opens as a full page, and that page takes an embed like any other, so a widget inside a database item works normally. What you cannot do is put one in a property, on a board card, or in a gallery preview, because those render properties and an embed is a block.
Inside an item page
Open any row and it is a normal Notion page. Type /embed, paste the link, resize. Useful for a client page with a styled header, or a project page with a shared announcement feed at the top.
Not in a property
Properties hold text, numbers, dates, selects and relations. There is no embed property and there is unlikely ever to be one, because properties are data rather than layout.
Not on a card
Gallery cards can show a page preview, and embedded blocks do not render inside that preview. If you want a card to look like something, the card cover is an image, which means a picture rather than a live widget.
This is the same wall as everywhere else: a widget cannot read your data, so it cannot vary per row. Twenty rows embedding one widget all show the same thing. Widgets vs integrations explains why.
The template angle
Database templates are where this becomes useful. Set a database template with a widget already embedded, and every new row you create from it arrives with the header, divider or feed already in place. That is one of the few ways to get a widget onto pages you have not made yet.
One more limitation worth knowing: an embed inside a database item does not appear in exports. If you export the database to Markdown or PDF, the widget leaves a gap rather than a picture, which surprises people preparing something for print.
