Notion Widget Alternatives
If you landed here comparing tools, we are not going to pretend the alternatives are all terrible. Several are perfectly good and a few do things we do not. The useful comparison is narrower than the feature grids suggest, and it comes down to range, pricing shape and whether a widget can still be edited after you have put it on a page.
What the comparisons cover
We wrote each one out properly instead of as a grid with our column conveniently ticked: Indify, Apption, WidgetBox, and the rest at /vs/.
How to test one properly
Build a single widget, put it on a page you use daily, and leave it a week. Then try to change its colour. That one exercise tells you more about a tool than any comparison page, ours included.
A gallery screenshot is a sales pitch. A widget still working and still editable seven days later is the product.
If you want to know what we build before comparing, that is types of Notion widgets.
Alternatives outside the Notion niche
If your pages are not all in Notion, the comparison changes shape. Some widget tools are built purely around Notion embeds. Others, ours included, are just URLs that work anywhere iframes do, which means one widget serves a Coda doc, a WordPress post, a Google Sites page, an xTiles board or a Craft document at the same time.
Worth checking before you commit, because moving twenty widgets later is a considerably worse afternoon than checking now.
A last piece of advice that applies to every tool here, ours included. Whatever you choose, keep a note of which pages your widgets ended up on. Nobody does this until the first time a widget goes blank and they cannot remember where it lived, and that afternoon is the reason to start now.
