Notion Widget Tools

A handful of tools build embeddable Notion widgets, and they are more alike than their landing pages suggest. Three differences actually matter when you are choosing: how many kinds of widget a tool covers, what shape its pricing takes, and whether a widget stays editable once you have embedded it. The third is the one people discover late.

Range

How many widget families a tool covers, not how many variations of one thing. Twenty clock styles is not range. A counter, a button, a feed and a carousel is.

Pricing shape

Subscription, one off purchase, or free with a cap. None is automatically better, though paying monthly for a decorative widget on a personal dashboard is a strange thing to still be doing a year later.

Editability

If the widget is generated once and its URL is fixed, changing a colour means building a new one and swapping the link on every page. If it stays live, you edit in one place and every page follows. That difference is invisible until it costs you an afternoon.

thePlus.so is a Notion widget tool, and widgets stay editable after embedding. Side by side write-ups live at /vs/, including Indify, Apption and WidgetBox.

Whoever you pick, build one widget, put it on a page you actually use, and leave it a week. Every tool looks the same in a gallery and different after seven days.

Which one for template makers

If you build templates for other people, the question narrows to one thing: can you still change the widget after somebody has duplicated your template? Tools that generate a frozen URL or a flat image cannot. Indify, Apption, WidgetBox, Blocs and thePlus.so all handle this differently, and it is worth testing before you ship to a hundred buyers.

Everything else about a widget tool is recoverable. That one is not, because you cannot reach the copies.
